The Number 1 Trail Running Shoe We Recommend!

Scrolling through trail running forums on the internet you will often see people posing the question - "What trail running shoes do people recommend?"

What inevitably ensues is 250 people commenting on the trail running shoes they wear and invariably love.

"I wear Salomon and they are amazing"

"Altras are the only trail shoe you should consider"

"This is my 5th pair of Hokas and I have never had an issue"

"The new Nike pegasus 4 is the best trail running shoe out there"

The Answer...

To answer the question in the title once and for all - what trail shoes do we recommend?

The best ones FOR YOU!

Every person is unique and is going to need something different out of a pair of running shoes. Between the shape of their foot, their gait, their strike pattern, the type of trails and surfaces they run on, what their body is used to - different shoes are going to work for different people.

How to better ask the question...

We recently had a moretrail user ask for advice on our trail running forum. She predominantly ran trails but up to this point was using standard road shoes and was thinking of making the switch.

Instead of asking what trail shoes people recommend she instead:

  1. Listed the shoes she has run in and have been working for her

  2. What she was looking for and her reasons for the switch

  3. Which shoes she had her eyes on and opinions of those shoes

This gave the perfect foundation to start a helpful conversation on what shoes might work best for her.

So next time you are on a trail running forum and want advice on shoes - use these 3 points above to frame your question. There is an amazing wealth of knowledge and advice a few key strokes away but this way - you are much more likely to find out what will be the best trail running shoe for you... not somebody else!
