What we are listening to: The Adventure Jogger

For this addition of the Moretrail "what are we listening to blog" we have focussed on one of our favourite podcasts to date - The Adventure Jogger.

The podcast is hosted by Ryan Ploeckelman and put on with Jeff Stafford who also features from time to time. The first thing that strikes you when listening to the podcast is that Ryan has a voice for radio - which funnily enough is his background having hosted a breakfast radio show in Clarkesville, Tennesse for 15 years. His high energy and enthusiasm is infectious and is a perfect way to lift your spirits when you are deep in the depth of a weekend long run slogging out those final few miles.

Ryan is a long time ultra runner himself and was co-host of a previous podcast (we wont get into those details here) before starting his own project in 2020. We are glad he made the leap and that we have the Adventure Jogger to thank for it!

The tagline of the show is a podcast bringing you stories from the front, middle and back of the pack. Ryan also exclaims that running is supposed to be fun... and so should running podcasts!

He hits the mark on all these points but perhaps the best thing about the show is the highly varied guests all bringing their own unique stories and spin to the episodes.

The Adventure Jogger really does mix it up when it comes to guests - from ultra running legends like Anton Krupicka and Courtney Dauwalter all the way to Victor Valenzuela (Who is Victor you ask... well only the dude who dragged a tire for an entire 100 mile race!!) and everything in between.

Whilst mostly focusing on the single guest/interview style these days if you are after a more group style episode there were 10 "Crew Show" episodes in the early days of the podcast which are fun to go back and listen. They also do a Christmas special episode which acts as the pod's Christmas party each year which has that group feel we highly recommend.

If you're looking for some high energy fun and a wide variety of guests and topics then we highly recommend giving the Adventure Jogger a try because after all... running podcasts should be fun!
