Do you like to have an "off season" with your running schedule?

Was sitting having coffee with my sister this morning. She ran her first marathon in January and hasnt done a whole lot of running since. This week she said she finally is getting the urge to get back out there and running.

I have my own thoughts on having an off season but I thought I'd ask the collective before I pen mine down in a blog.

So do you have a schedule off season in your calendar? does it just happen naturally? Is it related to doing a specific race or more to do with holidays/time of year?

Interested to hear peoples thoughts!

I find an off season happens pretty naturally, I'm not someone who can do the same thing week after week, year after year. Variety is the spice of life!

I tend to switch to biking and skiing at different times of the year but if I have an event on the horizon the running takes over all.

I like to run to feel active and deal with stress so I will always run a baseline amount every week just to feel healthy and good about myself.

Training definitely ramps up before an event and then dials back afterwards but I don't really take an off season as such and plan to continue at least getting out a few times a week for as long as I am able.
